Bhanwari Devi case: CM could be involved, says former BJP minister

Jaipur: Levelling allegations on chief minister Ashok Gehlot, former minister and BJP chief Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi has expressed the possibility of chief minister's involvement in Bhanwari Devi going missing.
Addressing the gathering of party workers in Kota he said that one year ago Gehlot had all information about Bhanwari-Madrena relationship and CDs but he did not take any action. The government has lost the trust of the people and has no right to remain in power.
He said that the character of Congress minister has come open publically and it shows how the Congress leaders are using women to pursue their dirty politics. The CD of Bhanwari and Maderna that was played on a news channel was shocking. Chaturvedi asked the BJP workers to work hard and stick to their objectives.

Bhanwari case: CBI to submit status report

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will on Monday submit a status report on its probe into alleged kidnapping and suspected murder of auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) Bhanwari Devi in Rajasthan High Court.

The central probe agency will also resume today the questioning of sacked Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna, who is a key suspect in the case.

Bhanwari Devi’s case has unleashed a political storm in the state politics since it involves a number of ministers belonging to the ruling Congress government led by Ashok Gehlot.

On September 26, the Rajasthan government had filed a status report in the Jodhpur High Court on its probe into the suspected kidnapping and murder of Bhanwari Devi.

The government was then instructed by the HC to expedite the investigation into the case.

The court had earlier admitted a habeas corpus petition filed by Bhanwari Devi’s husband and issued notices to the Home Secretary and senior police officers in this connection.

The habeas corpus petition was filed by Amarchand, husband of Bhanwari Devi who went missing on September 1.

Amarchand had alleged involvement of a powerful minister Mahipal Maderana in the disappearance of Devi.

The CBI on October 11 took over probe in the mysterious disappearance case of the nurse .

Bhanwari Devi, 36, was posted as ANM at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village when she went missing.

Congress last week suspended sacked Rajasthan Minister Mahipal Maderna from the primary membership of party for his role in the missing nurse’ abduction case.

Action against Maderna was on the cards with the RPCC contemplating action after a CD purportedly showing him in a compromising position with Bhanwari, an auxilliary nurse, came into public domain. The controversy involving Maderna has hit the Ashok Gehlot government amid calls by opposition BJP for the Chief Minister's resignation.

A CD purportedly showing Maderna and Malkhan in compromising position with 36-year-old Bhanwari, posted as a nurse midwife at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village, had come to light after she went missing from Jodhpur's Bilara area on September 1.

'Bhanwari frequently stayed in Ajmer'

AJMER: In the previous eight months before her disappearance, Bhanwari Devi had been making frequent visits to Ajmer. She used to stay at Kotra colony on Pushkar Road and met her close friends during the frequent two-three days breaks that she took here frequently.
A CBI team started looking for records with the help of revenue department to trace the property of Bhanwari in Ajmer. "It was confirmed by witnesses that Bhanwari had shifted to Kotra area where she purchased a house and stayed for days," said an official. Bhanwari was seen in Ajmer in the last days of August along with some other women.
It has emerged that Bhanwari wanted to purchase a big property in Ajmer and that she had been in talks with some relative of a politician. "Sunil Gujjar, a relative of former minister Govind Singh Gujjar, offered her a good plot of land in Kayar area of Ajmer, situated on the Jaipur road. But Bhanwari turned down the offer after visiting the place," said a relative of Bhanwari. "She had almost finalised the land but turned it down at the last minute," added Kailash, brother of Bhanwari.
Sources said that Bhanwari visited Ajmer many times and then purchased a big house in the Kotra region, "We are looking at the records to confirm if there is any place in the Kotra region in the name of Bhanwari Devi," said an official source.
It has also came out that one woman who was caught in Patan district in Gujarat in suspicious circumstances some days ago also lived in Kotra region of Ajmer and was known to Bhanwari. She confirmed to CBI that she had good relations with Bhanwari and she used to visit her house in Kotra.
Bhanwari was interested in settling down in Ajmer because her maternal house is in Kishangarh where her brother lives in Azad Nagar and her relatives are settled in Lohagal area of Ajmer. "The other angle is that the girlfriend of Shahabuddin - Rehana - belongs to Majvi Mohalla of Kishangarh and she had good relations with Bhanwari," said an official. They added that Bhanwari was used to meet Shahabuddin in Kishangarh.
It came out that Ajmer was the centre of conspiracy and meetings with Mahipal Maderna used to take place here because Maderna used to visit Kishangarh to meet his friends. "We have already interrogated a Congress leader of Kishangarh where Maderna used to stay at night," said an official. There are as many as half a dozen people who were interrogated in Ajmer and Kishangarh for the past fifteen days," said an official.

Steve Jobs: A Movie in the Making?

The book by Walter Isaacson, entitled "Steve Jobs," was slated for release on Nov. 21, but its publication was brought forward to Oct. 24 following the iconic former chief executive's death last week.
There are rumors doing rounds that Sony Pictures wants the filmmaking rights to Jobs' story. "Social Network," a film focusing on the rise of Facebook and its founder Mark Zuckerberg, and "Moneyball," depicting how computer-generated analysis was used to create a baseball club are both Sony Pictures' films.
Simon & Schuster's synopsis says the book, Steve Jobs, is based on more than 40 interviews with Jobs conducted over two years, as well as interviews with more than 100 family members, friends, adversaries, competitors and colleagues.
The synopsis added that Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing and digital publishing.
Large numbers of pre-orders of the digital e-book for $16.99 pushed the title to No. 1 on Apple's iTunes store and No. 2 on Amazon.com. Pre-orders of the hardcover copy, for $17.88, put the book at No. 1 on Amazon
Rumors also focus on who would play Jobs. Noah Wyle played Steve Jobs in the 1999 film "The Pirates of Silicon Valley." Jobs, who was pleased with the portrayal by the actor, invited him to deliver a speech at the Macworld convention dressed as Jobs.
